Rider Profile: Chris Blais
A legend in the making, Chris Blais competed in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Dakar rallys, ultimately finishing first American and 3rd overall in the 2007 Dakar.
Chris' past accomplishments include numerous SCORE podium finishes in the Baja 250, 500 and 1000 races, ranking him among the best of the best in American off road racing. Chris has raced in Dubai, Morroco, the United Arab Emirates and all of the African continent countries that the Dakar leads it's riders through.
Chris has been riding and racing since the age of 3 and his finishes and accomplishments are too vast to number. He is truly "First American" of the rally world.
On August 5th, 2007 Chris Blais crashed hard, pre- running the Vegas to Reno, crushing his T-7 vertebra (middle of back) and also suffered a broken collar bone. KTM has put Chris in charge the KTM Off-Road team consisting of the Hare & Hounds, BITD, and the Baja programs. KTM is happy to have David Pearson, Shane Esposito, Quinn Cody, and David Kamo. Despite Chris' absence from the bike, 2008 looks to be a great year for KTM.
The Chris Blais website update:
As of 2/14/08 Chris has a lot of upper body strength now. You can see it when he works with the therapists. He makes them sweat when doing the resistant exercises. A lot of tingling in his feet and he said he feel some pressure points in his feet also when standing up..
