Late in the fall of 2009 a core group of individuals from various recreational clubs joined forces to form the Friends of the Shasta Trinity. Members of the Redding Dirt Riders, Shasta Rockrollers, and Sylvia Milligan of the Recreation Outdoors Coalition decided that it was time to organize, unite and show the forest service what they think of the current Travel Management plan. The Group's first event in November of 2009 was a fund raising poker run to cover expenses for the services of Fred Kelley Grant, attorney with the American Stewards of SLiberty. The grup's second event was a protest rally at the Shasta Trinity National Forest's headquarters in Redding, CA. The groups main mission is to convince the forest service that there is a sensible alternative to the current travel management plan and that the forest belongs to the people and should be open to the people.
Below are videos of fred Kelly Grant's Shasta Trinity Speech and coverage of the Rally on December 11th 2009, in which over 250 people gathered in the rain to protest the closure of thousands of miles of roads and trails.
